The new Cineca Supercomputing, GALILEO: a collaborative effort by Cineca, INFN and Bicocca

After a short period of testing, Galileo, the new supercomputer installed at Cineca, came into full production. The investment is the collaborative effort between INFN and University of Milano-Bicocca, which partially funded the acquisition costs of the new system.

SISSA: A new grant for supercomputing

SISSA increasingly betting on High Performance Computing. SISSA has received European Community funding equivalent to 18 million hours of supercomputing to be used, over 1 year, on FERMI at CINECA. The grant was awarded thanks to a research project in particle physics.

PRACE completes phase I of Pre-Commercial Procurement

PRACE started this PCP to obtain R&D services which should result in future PRACE HPC systems to become more energy efficient. Phase I of PCP was completed on 9 March 2015. During Phase I, Bull, E4, Maxeler and Megware explored the various possible solutions. These have now been invited to bid for Phase II during which prototypes for the three most promising solutions will be built.
