Statistical downscaled sub-seasonal forecast (Sub-SEA)
The Highlander project aims to improve the subsets used for predicting and analyzing climate data. This includes the statistical downscaling of sub-seasonal forecast (Sub-SEA), thanks to the application of the ECMWF's ecPoint technique. CINECA uses Galileo100, Cineca's HPC resource, to produce these sub-SEA forecasts twice a week.

Increased spatial resolution in the Italian climate datasets thanks to Highlander project
One of the objectives of the HIGHLANDER project is to generate, by using High Performance Computing, new climate datasets that support a better and more sustainable management of natural resources and the territory, thus helping to reduce the risks associated with climate change.
Two relevant dataset were produced by CMCC Foundation and ECMWF relying on Cineca GALILEO supercomputer.

ECMWF USES REGIONAL OBSERVATIONAL DATA SHARED ON METEO-HUB
From 2021, the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) extracts regional observational data available in real-time from Meteo-Hub and uses them for the data assimilation of forecast models, enriching the existing observational database.
Meteo-Hub is the platform developed by Cineca for the European Project Mistral.

Futuro24: CINECA, the home of supercomputers in Bologna
